Any ideas or tips on saving money?

I know the basics. Don't eat out, shop in bulk, use coupons. How can I save cash? What is a christmas account? What kind of accounts can I open that will accumulate interest over a certain time, but I wouldn't lose my cash. Any tips and ideas would greatly be appreciated.
