About Paypal. 10 pts for help.?

Im new to paypal. Im planning to buy something on ebay, I got my paypal account recently. I have no credit card but i do have a confirmed bank account. Lets say I want to use an echeck through paypal. Do I have to transfer the funds from my bank account to the Paypla Balance? Or can I go straight ahead and have the money be transferred directly from the bank to the seller. (through paypal of course)
